Built-in Roster Library
Captioning starts with a roster, and most tools leave you to build one. GalleryID ships with 18,815 team rosters: 649 NCAA Division II and III schools across 62 conferences and 90 sponsored sports, 393 Division I schools from football and basketball through softball, volleyball, lacrosse and hockey, and the major US pro leagues.
Somebody has built a code replacement file for Division I football. Nobody has built one for Division III women’s wrestling, and that is the roster you would otherwise be typing by hand after the game. Coverage runs to 90 sports because the obscure ones cost the most time.
Bind a roster to a folder or gallery and one keypress writes the athlete name and the full caption line into each field you mapped. That is CaptionID. There is no code file, so there is nothing to rebuild when a roster turns over.
The library is a starting point, not a boundary. Load your own as .xlsx, .xls, .csv, .tsv or .txt and any sport works, because identification is driven by the roster you bind rather than by a fixed list of leagues.

The Schools column counts a school once per sport it sponsors, so the total is programme slots rather than 649 distinct schools.
If your conference is here, its schools and their rosters are already in the library.

The table above counts Division II and Division III, where the sport coverage runs deepest. Division I and the pro leagues are loaded too, on a narrower set of sports.
393 schools and 152,446 athletes. FBS football at 135 teams, FCS football at 125, men’s and women’s basketball at 362 each, plus 84 non-revenue leagues at 323 schools: softball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, track, swimming, tennis, golf, rowing and more.
Ten leagues, 205 teams: NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NWSL, Liga MX, PGA and LPGA. Tournament squads for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Leagues Cup are loaded as well.
Need the roster as a Photo Mechanic code replacement file instead? SnapCaption builds one from the same data, at no cost and with no signup. It is a separate product, not a feature of Desktop or Cloud.

Yes. The library holds 18,815 team rosters and 474,304 athletes in total. NCAA Division I is 393 schools and 152,446 athletes: FBS football at 135 teams, FCS football at 125, and men’s and women’s basketball at 362 each from the ESPN feed, plus 84 non-revenue Division I leagues at 323 schools, softball and volleyball through lacrosse, hockey, track and rowing, from the schools’ own published rosters. Ten professional leagues add 205 teams: NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NWSL, Liga MX, PGA and LPGA, plus tournament squads for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Leagues Cup. Coverage is deepest in Division II and Division III, where it runs across 90 sponsored sports rather than the revenue sports alone.
Ninety sponsored sports across NCAA Division II and Division III, covering 649 schools and 310,496 athletes. Beyond the revenue sports it includes women’s wrestling at 111 schools, men’s volleyball at 172, field hockey at 196, indoor and outdoor track, rowing, fencing, water polo, squash, acrobatics and tumbling, STUNT, equestrian across hunt seat, western and dressage, flag football, bowling, sailing, rifle, archery, alpine and nordic skiing, triathlon, rodeo, esports, competitive cheer and competitive dance.
It still works. Load your own roster as .xlsx, .xls, .csv, .tsv or .txt and bind it to the folder. Identification is driven by the roster you bind rather than a fixed list of leagues, so the library is a starting point rather than a boundary.
Both. GalleryID Desktop runs on macOS 12+ and Windows 10/11 with identification on your own machine and nothing uploaded. GalleryID Cloud is the hosted archive you search by athlete name. They are separate subscriptions and the Roster Library ships with each.
Yes, free and without an account. The SnapCaption roster file builder at snapcaption.app/roster builds a code replacement roster file from the same data, and it is reachable from GalleryID Cloud and GalleryID Desktop. It is a separate product, not a feature of Desktop or Cloud.
The Division II and Division III sport table on this page was verified on 27 August 2026, and the whole-library totals were verified against the roster database on 31 August 2026. Rosters are refreshed each season, which is the cadence at which college squads actually change.

The Roster Library comes with both products. GalleryID Desktop is $20/mo or $200/yr for two computers and runs on your own machine with nothing uploaded. GalleryID Cloud starts at $20/mo for 200 GB and gives you an archive you search by athlete name.
Both are 14-day trials and both take a card · Rosters refreshed each season
