MatchID
Choose which people MatchID looks for
Scope is the setting that decides which indexed people a gallery is compared against. It is the difference between a volleyball gallery matching your volleyball roster and matching your whole archive, and it is the usual reason a first gallery comes back with no names on it.
Before you start: you need the Settings permission on the folder or gallery, and MatchID has to be enabled for your organization.
Recognition mode
Set on a gallery in Gallery Settings → MatchID, on a folder in folder Settings → MatchID, and for the whole organization in Org Dashboard → Settings → Recognition Mode.
| Mode | What a run does |
|---|---|
| Inherit | Follows the folder, and above that the organization. The default on a gallery and a folder, and not offered at the organization level, which is the root. |
| Scoped | Compares against the rosters picked below, and rejects a match on anyone outside them. |
| All Headshots | Compares against each person you have indexed. Out-of-scope people can still match, but they have to clear a higher bar and they do not get the jersey-number boost. |
| Off | No matching. Photos land tagged by hand or not at all. |
An empty scope means two different things
The picker says “Leave empty to match all indexed athletes”, and in All Headshots mode that is exactly what happens. In Scoped mode it does not: with no roster on the gallery and none on its folder, the run stops before it matches anything and the photos come back untouched.
Picking teams
Choose a subcategory to scope to one team. Choosing a category selects the teams underneath it, and a category with no teams of its own scopes to the people filed directly in it. The tab carries a count, and the section lists the teams you picked so you can see the scope without opening the picker.
- •A gallery's own scope wins. A gallery with none falls back to the roster on the folder it sits in, and no further up than that.
- •Recognition mode cascades separately: gallery, then folder, then organization, then the system default.
- •Turning off a roster in your headshot library takes it out of matching in each mode, including All Headshots.
Set it once on a folder
A folder's Roster for this folder control has three states. Inherit follows whatever cascades from above. Own roster gives this folder its own teams. Noneclears the roster and stops the cascade at this folder.
With Own roster set, Cascade to subfolders pushes it down to subfolders that have no roster of their own, including ones you create later. A subfolder set to Own or None keeps its own choice, and the panel counts what the cascade reaches before you turn it on.
After you change the scope
Scope is read once, when a gallery is processed. Changing it later, or adding headshots to a roster a gallery already ran against, does not re-run anything on its own. Use Reprocess MatchID on the gallery, which asks which kind of re-run you want.
| Choice | What happens to your decisions |
|---|---|
| Supplement | Re-scans each photo and keeps the approvals and rejections you already made. New faces and better scores get added on top. |
| Fresh start | Clears the MatchID results and starts over, including the ones you rejected. It tells you how many decisions that is before you confirm. |
